Collectible Items

The collectible is an item worth more because of its rarity or demand. It is a valuable object that could fall into any one of the three categories listed above. Collectibles are not items that were mass-produced, as many people may think. Just because a group or individual collects a type of product does not make it a collectible, by definition. For example, collecting baseball cards is a common pastime. Baseball cards themselves are not collectibles. The T206 Honus Wagner baseball card, however, is a collectible. This is because the American Tobacco Company produced only a few copies in 1909 and it’s very hard to track them down today. Age and rarity make that card a collectible.

1. Stamps

A postage stamp is a small piece of paper issued by a post office, postal administration, or other authorized vendors to customers who pay postage. Stamps collection is the oldest and most popular hobby amongst the collectors. It is related to philately, which is the study of stamps. Postage stamps are collected for their historical value and geographical aspects and also for many thematic subjects depicted on them, ranging from ships, horses, birds, personalities, sports, special events, etc. Collectors focus on collecting stamps of particular countries, certain time periods or particular subjects (called “topicals or thematics”) like birds, aircraft, Gandhi, etc. Bangladesh stamps are under British Commonwealth that’s why it is popular on large community collectors.

2. Collectables

For general public, Collectable antiques are presumed mostly found at the museums. Collecting collectable items started to grow since the 18th century which included very diverse items like product & Matchbox labels, Airline items & Memorabilia, photographs, autographs and the list is endless. As the years go by, Bangladesh also started to discover the passion of collecting antique paintings, sports items, Bollywood items and it’s collection is becoming popular as the days are passing by.

3. Coins

The study of coins is commonly called Numismatics but it is actually the study or collection of currency, including coins, tokens, paper money and related objects. Coins of interest to collectors include that circulated for only a brief time, coins with errors and especially beautiful or historically significant pieces. Fascination with the images on the coins depicting rulers, mythological beings, and the like generated huge interest in collecting in early periods. It includes commemorative coins whether in gold, silver, copper, Nickel, Aluminum, etc. This section of the website is divided in Bangladeshi , pakistani & Foreign coins and then sub-divided into specific topics.

4. Banknotes

Banknotes are another form of currency that is available in diverse values such as 1, 2, 5 10, 20, 50, and so on. The official currency of Bangladesh is Bangladeshi Poisa issued by the Central Bank of Bangladesh. The material used is a legalized paper proper in issuing a banknote. This section is classified into Bangladesh and World notes.

5. Accessories

Antique accessories pertain to a material used to preserve collectable items from damage. It can be a coins album, plastic pouch, stamp perforation gauge grid, stamp stock sheet, currency sheets, stamp album, and other storage for antique items. In Bangladesh, a stock book is very popular especially amongst stamp collectors.

6. Publication

The publication section is a collection of old and rare books. These might tackle historical events, ancestor’s life, poetical works, a book of records, and other informational textbooks. It is classified into two sub-sections viz Philately and Numismatics. It contains books, catalogs and research papers and other related literature to facilitate in enhancing the collection hobby.
